The litany of statistics regarding the lives and struggles of Somali people are common knowledge in the fraternity of the international donors.  Civil war, famine, rudimentary healthcare access, high infant mortality are but a few.  These travails are the result of a combined forty years of dictatorship, cold war manipulation, civil war, and state collapse, abandonment by the international community, the refugee crisis and the brain drain concurrent with this crisis.  All together these factors of despair leave the people in the Horn of Africa extremely vulnerable and bewildered.  
           
            This state of vulnerability allows room for warlord politics, corporate raiders of Somalia's sea resources and the propagation of Islamic extremist politics, arms dealers, smugglers, and last but not least banditry in the form of pirates .  Though there are areas of the Horn of Africa that are relatively stable (such as Somaliland and Puntland), instability and insecurity continue to be the norm through much of the region. This situation demands multifaceted approaches that range from providing basic humanitarian services, confronting and/or negotiating with the fighters and warlords, to the all important task of engaging in the struggle for hearts and minds of the Somali people.  This is where media has a powerful role to play. 

           
            And an effort to engage Somali people in their language and with cultural sensitivity is a complex task that is best accomplished in collaboration with Somali partners.  There are many Somalis who share the goal of a stable society where Somali peoples are secure and engaged in developing their communities as members of a just world order.  To get there, the international community has to establish long term partnerships with Somali allies in the world of media.  It's only through sustained media engagement that the critical mass of people will be reached to push back against the politics of nihilism represented by the Islamic extremists and the forces of destabilization.  An ethic of veracity and accuracy should guide this work along with a sense of responsibility for the common good.

And in a country without the basic elements of the social needs because of many years of extreme violence, it is obvious that the people will have difficulties in promoting and sustaining their lives. But they have a right to get an organization to help them in progressing better living standard and promoting peace and harmony. Thus, after a long deliberation, KMC Foundation was established under the umbrella of KOW MEDIA CORP.

KMC Foundation will collaborate with other organizations involved in the same activities to build a better environment and promote peace and harmony through Media and Dramas.

STATUS OF THE ORGANISATION:

• KMF is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making organization that is directed under the bigger umbrella of KMC (KOW MEDIA CORP.).Its policy is giving equal opportunities to the mankind without discriminating them in terms of tribe, race, ethnic, religion, color, beliefs or otherwise. 

• In the name of the law, KMC Foundation is a legal institution which has a legal status, and has a permanent right to use its’ name for all its’ operations and activities.
